Servicing a European Asko Built-In Oven in a US Kitchen

Asko does not currently sell ovens in the US, so every one in an American kitchen got there another way. Here is what that means for voltage, fit, and parts.

An asko european oven us kitchen installation is a genuinely common situation, and it is worth being upfront about why: Asko’s current US catalog does not include ovens at all, only dishwashers, washing machines, tumble dryers, drying cabinets, and one wine climate cabinet. Every built-in Asko oven we service in an American kitchen arrived through an earlier period of US distribution, an intentional import as part of a European-spec kitchen build, or a homeowner bringing a unit along during a move. That history has practical consequences for voltage, physical fit, and how long a repair takes.

Voltage and electrical supply

Ovens built for European and Australian markets are typically designed around a single-phase supply in the 220 to 240 volt range, which is close to, but not automatically identical to, how a US kitchen circuit is wired. A US electric oven circuit is commonly supplied by two hot legs off a split-phase panel, which nets 240 volts across the pair but is wired differently than a single 230 volt line. On Asko’s induction cooktops, this exact class of mismatch is serious enough that Asko documents dedicated error codes, F8 and U400, specifically for a unit connected incorrectly or exposed to mains voltage that is too high, and the same electrical-safety logic applies to an imported oven even though ovens do not display a decoded code for it. Confirming the supply wiring matches what the appliance expects, with a qualified electrician, is not optional on an imported unit.

Cutout size and physical fit

European built-in oven cutout dimensions do not always line up neatly with the nominal 24, 27, or 30 inch openings common in US cabinetry, and a millimeter-specified European unit dropped into a cabinet built around US measurements can end up with gaps, an improper seal against the surrounding trim, or a cutout that needs cabinetry rework before the oven fits securely. If you are looking at replacing or reinstalling an imported Asko oven, confirming the exact cutout dimensions against the specific model’s published specifications, rather than assuming it matches a domestic oven’s footprint, avoids a surprise mid-installation.

Parts lead time is the honest tradeoff

Because these ovens were never part of a US retail parts network, ordering a replacement sensor, hinge, or control board typically takes longer than the same job on a US-sold appliance, since parts often have to be sourced through international channels rather than pulled from domestic stock. This is where the Art. No. printed on the rating plate, alongside the model and serial number, genuinely earns its keep: a parts supplier working from Model, Serial, and Art. No. together can confirm the exact part variant needed and avoid an ordering mistake that would add even more delay.

What to expect from us

We are an independent, third-party repair company, not affiliated with or authorized by Asko, and we service imported European Asko ovens with that reality built into how we plan a job: we confirm electrical supply and cutout details up front and set realistic expectations on parts lead time rather than promising a same-day fix on a component that has to travel.
