The Asko HID956MC is a current induction cooktop. On this matte black induction cooktop the recurring service call is the induction generator overheating from a blocked vent under the cooktop, rather than a failed coil. When it does problem, the HID956MC reports it through the F-series code family on the HI1655M generator platform (F00, F0-F6, FC, F7, F8, F9, F99, FA, FAN). The HID956MC is part of Asko's Australian kitchen range, sold nowhere on Asko's current US site; where we find one here, it is an import or part of a European-spec'd kitchen.
When the HID956MC throws a code, the first job is telling which of two unrelated schemes produced it. Asko's F-series induction boards report F00, F0–F6, F7, F8, F9, F99, FA and FAN; its E-series boards report Er03, E2, E3, E5, E6, U400 and Er47; the lists do not overlap, so the model comes before the code. Gas versions of the hob publish nothing and are diagnosed from symptoms such as a spark that never lights the burner.
