Asko cooktops are genuine, current products, and asko cooktops repair remains a service we handle regularly even though the category — called Hobs in Asko’s own nomenclature — no longer appears for sale on us.asko.com, which lists zero products in that category for the US market today. The lineup spans the Premium/Series 8, Series 5, Series 2, Craft Series 1, and Elements design lines, and the units we service reached American kitchens through earlier distribution or a kitchen spec’d from Asko’s European or Australian range. The split between the Premium/Series 8 tier and the Series 2/Series 5 tiers below it is mostly about zone count, power boost headroom, and touch-control sophistication rather than a difference in the core induction technology itself — every tier we service uses the same fundamental magnetic-field heating principle, which is why a technician experienced with one generator family can usually read the physical symptoms on another tier correctly even before checking which specific error-code family applies.
Technologies and features
Bridge Induction, and its Flexible Bridge Induction variant on newer Series 5 and Series 2 models, links two adjacent induction zones into a single larger cooking area sized for an oversized pan or griddle. Gas hob models carry a Volcano wok burner on some configurations, a high-output flame shaped specifically for wok cooking, and select combination units pair induction zones with a gas burner in the same cooktop under Asko’s Duo Fusion naming. Across every configuration, the parts that wear are the induction generator module, the touch control panel, the glass-ceramic or stainless surface itself, and on gas models, the igniter and burner valve.
A Bridge Induction pairing failure is worth calling out separately from either platform’s numeric error codes, since it is diagnosed as its own distinct symptom rather than showing an F- or Er-prefixed code at all — the bridging sensor and its control logic sit apart from the generator’s own overheat and voltage-monitoring circuits, so a linking failure does not necessarily mean anything else on the cooktop has actually failed.
Common issues and maintenance
Asko’s induction hobs run on two entirely separate, non-overlapping error-code families depending on the generator electronics fitted — the HI1655M-family platform uses an F-prefixed set (F7 for overheat, F99 for low mains voltage, FA for restricted air circulation, among others), while the HI1621G-family platform uses a distinct Er- and E-prefixed set for equivalent conditions (Er03 for a dirty control panel, E3 for unsuitable cookware, Er47 for a communication problem between the control board and generator). Gas hobs publish no codes whatsoever and are diagnosed purely by symptom — an igniter that will not spark, an uneven flame, or a burner that will not stay lit are worked through the igniter, burner cap seating, and gas valve in that order. A zone that clicks on and off repeatedly rather than staying lit is usually the pan-detection sensor cycling because the cookware on it is not fully ferromagnetic or is not centered squarely over the coil, a symptom worth checking with a different pan before treating the zone itself as faulty. On glass-ceramic gas hob variants, a flame that burns yellow rather than blue at the tip often points to a burner cap seated slightly out of alignment rather than a gas-supply problem, and reseating the cap correctly resolves a meaningful share of these calls without any part being replaced. Because a Duo Fusion combination hob mixes induction and gas zones on the same surface, a problem reported on one side of the cooktop is worth confirming as isolated to that fuel type before assuming both halves share a common control board, since the induction generator and the gas burner valve are wired and controlled through largely separate circuits even inside a single housing.
