An indicator such as a temperature alarm or a warning symbol tells you something is wrong, but not, in code form, precisely what — so diagnosis rests on observation and measurement.
Cooling symptoms
A fridge that runs but will not cool often points at the evaporator fan, a frosted-over evaporator, or a sealed-system fault, while a compartment that freezes the food suggests a damper or thermostat problem. A unit dead silent with no compressor sound points at the compressor or its start components.
Airflow, frost, and door symptoms
Uneven cooling from shelf to shelf can be a Cool Flow airflow issue, heavy frost points at the defrost circuit, and water pooling inside often traces to a blocked drain line or a gasket that no longer seals.
What to check, and when to call
Inspect the door seal, the vents, and the drain before you suspect a part. Sealed-system work must be done by an experienced technician handling refrigerant under EPA Section 608 rules, using the correct genuine OEM or trusted-supplier part.
